R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

Had a super smooth shift all last night until… Server fam, why is it always the last table? Why?? Anyway, a couple walks in 15 minutes before close, right? They’re lovin’ the food. Appetizer was great. The bbq was great. But get them a piece of bread that’s not up to their standards and… Well, I listened as much as I could as they went on and on about how a piece of bread is supposed to be. They were bordering on rude.

I took away the offending piece of bread and that’s when I heard the song. Aretha Franklin’s voice was blarin’ in the background. “What you want, baby I got it. What you need, you know I got it. All I’m askin’ is for a little respect…” I started singing and rocking out to the music. The night ended on a much better note.

Although I’m still baffled as to why they were so upset about the piece of bread even to this day, I’m glad Aretha Franklin, the patron saint of respect, had my back. Thanks Aretha!
