Toddler Gang Signs
I can’t make this stuff up. *chuckles*
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, I served a young couple. A 3 year old boy was with them. They enjoyed their meal and were quite cordial.
As I was conversing with the young couple, the toddler made direct eye contact with me. He wanted my attention. So I turn towards him and smile acknowledging him.
The little fella gets a serious face. Next thing I know, he gets his little fingers in some sort of weird configuration. Imagine you’re holding the number 2 but it’s horizontal instead of vertical. The toddler has this serious face and throws the vertical number 2 towards me.
I’m a bit confused. I thought to myself, “Did he just throw a…a…gang sign?” I smiled again but with a bit of confusion this time. The little fella didn’t flinch. He looked right at me and threw the exact same hand gesture again.
Be careful what you do and say around children y’all. They see everything. And when I say everything, I mean it!
I grew up in a violent neighborhood. Studied gang behavior in college. I know a gang sign when I see one. But I have never seen one so young throw a gang sign like that.
It was cute though. The young couple was so embarrassed. Don’t worry about that little guy. He’ll be alright.
