Power’s Out

I’m not able to confirm or deny this. I just heard that there was once a power outage at my restaurant about a year or so ago. The server was just minding her own business having a routine end to a routine day.

Then all of a sudden, a complication had arisen at the end of the routine day. The person who clocked in before her didn’t complete the clock in routine. By the time she got to the monitor, she may have became slightly confused, pressed the incorrect button sequence a couple of times, and pressed enter.

The entire restaurant blinked. There was a noticeable beeping sound announcing the power interruption. The Director of Operations, aka my boss’s boss’s boss, was seen sprinting through the kitchen. That’s not an easy task to do in pumps. The other servers and the patrons all gasped quite loudly. Did I mention this happened during dinner rush in a high volume establishment?

Well, thankfully, the routine was quickly established. The outage lasted only about 10 seconds. In restaurant time though, that was an eternity. There was much chaos following those mere seconds.

By the time the dust settled, I was no where to be found.
