The Proposal
Happy Valentine’s Day from my table to yours!
Last weekend I was at a table walking my first time patrons through the menu. I then heard this music that was definitely not what is on the restaurant playlist. I looked up and there was this human train of about ten 20 something year old men trailing through the restaurant.
I thought to myself, “This is unusual.” I then did what I rarely do. I stopped the menu tour. I stopped helping my patrons decide on what they want to eat. That’s like a transcriber who decided to stop typing. It’s like a singer who stopped singing in the middle of the song and walked off stage. You just don’t do it.
The patrons and I looked at this human train. The guy in the front was holding this tiny boombox speaker in the air. They made it to the table (table 25), stopped and formed this human chain. Then they started to sing.
I couldn’t see much from where I stood. I concluded that the man at the table just proposed. The cheers told me that she said, “Yes”.
What the human chain didn’t realize was that my co-workers in the patio were trapped for like 5 minutes. The patrons who were finished with their meals were a bit stuck too. Also, it’s a wee bit crowded at the corner where the proposal took place. But that’s alright. We were all caught up in the romantic scene unfolding. We were a part of a beautiful event.
Food is a great aphrodisiac.
