My Christmas Tradition

Christmas Eve came and went at my restaurant. Some kind servers brought tasty treats. It was going to be a long day afterall. I brought peanut clusters.

There’s a back story with them. My dad’s birthday is on Christmas Eve. He once told me a story of his childhood. He grew up in rural Missouri. One of seven children. Not much money for much especially Christmas gifts.

One Christmas, a local church gave him and his siblings a bag of goodies. The bags contained apples, oranges, various nuts, and peanut clusters. While I was growing up, he kept the tradition alive by buying his children apples, oranges, various nuts, and peanut clusters.

No matter which restaurant I work at, I bring peanut clusters at least once during the Christmas season. It’s my way of keeping my family tradition alive. The server world is an extension of my family.

So Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
