Oh Pauly…..

I just finished my shift and there was this great buzz. “Pauly Shore is here!” Ah man, it was quite exciting. He was doing a comedy tour and was in town. We haven’t had an internationally famous person in our restaurant since Bill Murray. (Still salty that I missed the chance to meet the man.)

The person who served Pauly Shore is an angel of a woman. Never seen her lose her cool. One more thing to add though. At the peak of his career, she was probably a toddler. So, with that in mind here’s her story.

First of all, she didn’t know who Pauly Shore was. He arrived with another person. She thought that guy was Pauly Shore. I do have to admit. Pauly looked a little….worn out.

She started the menu tour. That’s what we do at the restaurant with each new guest. Pauly interrupted her and asked to speak with the manager. Remember now, she had no idea who this guy was. She didn’t know he was famous. Never had anyone interrupt her intro to speak with the manager. Weird.

She found the manager and Pauly began asking the manager what he should get. The manager was also confused. He knew that my server friend could handle it. Why else would they give her a celebrity?

He suggested a 3 meat dinner plate. Pauly complained that it was too much food. So he suggested one of our famous burgers. Pauly didn’t want any bread. He then decided to get the dinner plate the manager initially suggested. He added one order of mac-n-cheese. Got the food and then requested bread with the meal. But didn’t he at one time refused to eat bread?

My server friend was baffled but flowed right along with it. Then it got really weird. Pauly pulled out his phone and started recording her.

“And that’s when I stopped making eye contact with him. I never went back to the table except to give him a to go box and the check. That old man was weird.”

That old man was weird…Oh Pauly…The moral of the story is…
Don’t do drugs.
