Green Card

It was a typical busy Saturday night. Graduation weekend. Had a grumpy large party and the night was still young. (And I was still hungry.) Got to a table and a woman asked for a Bud Light. I asked for her ID and checked it. Then she said, “Cancel that order. I’m with a BARS program. May I see your manager?”

I got a green card from the BARS program.

Now those not in the industry may not understand the significance so I’ll explain. A restaurant needs a license to sell tasty adult beverages. That license can be revoked for doing a thing like…say…selling them to someone under 21 years old.

The BARS program will send people who make sure the business check for ID’s. If the ID isn’t checked, you will get a red card. That’s not good at all. You want a green card.

So hooray for a green card from BARS. I’m happy. My coworkers are happy. My managers are happy. And most importantly, our patrons can have tasty adult beverages. Yay!!
