They’re Not There
Let’s do a simple call and response. All you have to say is, “They’re not there.” Got it? Okay, here we go!
I see a familiar face at the library. They look like a patron I served a couple of days ago. Oh my goodness! They are! But you know what? I don’t see them…
“They’re not there.”
I go to my favorite grocery store right down the street from where I work. I see a regular buying groceries. But you know what? I don’t see them…
“They’re not there.”
I go to my favorite Chinese buffet. I see my “14 Hands” couple chowing down a few rows down. I wonder why they aren’t at my restaurant eating. But you know what? I don’t see them…
“They’re not there.”
I go to a local adult beverage store for a little nightcap. There’s a nice patron with a huge brown bag at the same location. Just made her purchase. I know she knows me. She knows I know her. But you know what? I don’t see them…
“They’re not there.”
Boundaries. It’s all about boundaries. Of course there are exceptions. For the most part, I figure that it’s wise to give the patron their space. I surely need mine.
