JD-The Wise Man

Words from a wise man

“When you have a tough table and get a shitty tip, just turn the page man. Just turn the page.”

“I know the real reason why you were late for work. Umm hmmm…”

“Went to The Stones concert man. It was fuckin’ awesome!”

“I love my baby girl. We’d have a father daughter night and we’d dance to rock and roll music. She doesn’t like The Who though.”

JD was a server who lived life to the absolute fullest each day. He had booming voice and a contagious laugh. He always had a story or a joke. Loved his 5oz top sirloins and ice cream. I could sing old school songs with him and he’d join me in singing them.

He passed away way too soon. The crew is still in shock.

We were starting a lunch rush when the hostess told us that JD passed away. The crew couldn’t believe it. The manager certainly knew nothing of this.

It was challenging to stay focused on work while wondering if a close work friend is still living. Then to find out that the rumor was true during lunch rush? Smiles were still expected and that’s what we did. We cried at the end of shift.

I know the angels are drunk up there JD. Those fireball shots are delicious. Miss ya terribly.
